Q: I feel like I’ve been thrown in at the deep end to manage my team remotely. How do I get the best out of them when we hardly see each other in person?
Angela Noon CMgr CCMI, CFO at Royal Mail, answers:
It doesn’t matter how experienced you are as a leader or a manager, learning how to get the best out of your own team continues to be a challenge that I have every day of my life, and I’m using all the skills that I’ve grown over years.
Remote working and the new normal is bringing out challenges for leadership style. If I go back to when I first became a young manager trying to learn better engagement to get the best out of the skill set within the team – I think when you try to do that remotely, that is a massive mountain to climb for new managers.
