CMI Hong Kong supports school business case competition

11th May 2024

Supported by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the "Joint-School Business Case Competition" in Hong Kong came to its final day with pitch presentations by students from the participating schools. It was impressive to listen to all the creative, practical and socially-responsible business ideas and plans that students have come up on the basis of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals for tackling global challenges in health, environment, communication, education, and more.

Not only did the students demonstrate their ability in market research and analysis, they also brilliantly considered marketing/promotion, scale-up strategy, revenue/cost projection, and other aspects of running a business.

I was glad to be able to play a role in connecting CMI with the co-organiser schools, making this partnership happen with a view to inspire Hong Kong's next generation of managers and help them gain experience that will pave the way for their future careers.

The Joint-School Business Case Competition was organised in quite a special way such that all students from different participating schools were sorted into mixed teams. Instead of partnering with their peers wearing the same school badge, they must collaborate with team members whom they had only known for around a month.

This is meaningful because it simulates a real business environment where one often needs to work with people of diverse backgrounds and talents.

Thumbs up to all the participants who completed the pitching challenge and to the joint-school student committee who executed this competition so well!
