CMI's Net Zero Commitment
The Chartered Management Institute is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040 for emissions scopes 1, 2 and 3.
Our journey so far
Although we're committing to 2040, we have already taken the following steps on our journey.
2023/24
We published our Net Zero commitment.
2022/23
- Sustainability embedded in the CMI’s professional standards.
- CMI Environmental Policy Statement published.
- Our Executive Leadership Team approved our target date of 2040 for Net Zero emissions.
- We worked with the European Sustainability Academy to help us understand what matters to our colleagues, members and partners and develop future carbon reduction plans.
2018/19
- We established an Environment Group of colleagues from across the business with the aim of helping CMI make environmentally conscious decisions both at work and at home.
- We started to track our Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions to give us a baseline to measure the impact of our reductions over time.
2014
Our Environmental Policy was developed and published.
2012
Certificate of Registration first awarded from the British Standards Institute for our Environmental Management System which complies with the requirements of ISO14001.
Our next steps
We have established an internal Net Zero delivery group which is working with our colleagues and partners on our 2040 Net Zero Plan.
We are developing standards, products and resources for policy-makers and our learners, partners and members to equip them with the Green Management Skills they will need as the UK progresses towards Net Zero in 2050.
