The Board of Trustees is at the centre of CMI governance. Board members are Trustees of the Institute, the CMI being a charity registered in England and Wales, and separately registered in Scotland. Their responsibilities are in essence identical to those of a non-executive Director who serves on a company board.
Vacancies for elected member places on the Board, when available, are advertised widely across our channels, including our website, our magazine, member e-newsletters and CMI’s social media channels.
The role and personal specification for a Board member are published, alongside a well-established set of competencies for Trustees.
When a new Board member is elected they will serve a two-year term. The Board member is then eligible to stand for re-election for two more two year terms, to a maximum period of six years.
Who is eligible to become a Trustee?
- A current Institute Member, Chartered Member, Fellow, Chartered Fellow, Companion or Chartered Companion, with;
- Experience of operating at strategic level;
- Ideally, experience as an executive or non-executive director.
