Volunteer of the Year - Zarina Naqvi CMC ChMC FIC

Zarina Naqvi CMC ChMC FIC is a leading figure in the Institute of Consulting (IC), the only professional membership organisation in the UK for individual management consultants. The IC is governed by an advisory committee that is a sub-committee of the CMI Board of Trustees.

Zarina sits on the IC Advisory Committee (ICAC) and the IC Task Force, and she recently became chair of the London & South East IC Committee.

Her commitment to volunteering and dedication to promoting best practice for Chartered Management Consultants impressed the CMI Awards of Excellence judges, who named her 2024’s Volunteer of the Year.

Giving back

Zarina was one of the first six people to be awarded Chartered Management Consultant (ChMC) status as part of a pilot designed to help test and refine the award. She was also one of the first ChMC assessors and remains active in her assessing role. Zarina is one of only five ICMCI ISO 20700 management consultant trainers in the UK.

Giving back matters to Zarina. Her main motivation is to improve the industry. She wants to enable those starting their careers in management consulting to have clearer, more structured pathways to success. To that end, she mentors students at Queen Mary University of London who are considering a career in management consulting. She also speaks at other universities, including University College London and St Mary’s University, Twickenham, on business subjects.
