Women are “overlooked, undervalued and underestimated” within the workplace, said the Labour Party deputy leader Angela Rayner in her keynote speech at the CMI Women Conference 2024. CMI Women’s theme this year was “Divide or Prosper? Inclusive Growth in the Next Decade”. 

Rayner said that the reality of inclusive workplaces can often seem out of reach – some estimates suggest that the gender pay gap could continue for another two decades. Yet, she said that steps are already being taken, observing that it’s “attending events like this that make me reflect on just how far we’ve come”. 

One thing became clear during the day: driving inclusive growth requires a collective effort. And all of the sessions at this year’s CMI Women Conference were packed full of actionable steps that we can all take to build a more inclusive workforce.
