Being Bold for a Better Future
Tuesday 24 November 2020Established in 1969 as ‘Women in Management’ by Eleanor MacDonald – one of the first women to break into UK boardrooms – CMI Women was created to develop a strong pipeline of female managers and leaders.
Besides its obvious benefits for women and their careers, not least of all it served as a means of expanding the talent pool for a broader variety of skills and perspectives – thus allowing businesses to make more effective, well-rounded decisions, and ultimately improve results.

Now, 50 years later, we’re delighted to welcome NatWest Group CEO Alison Rose – first woman to lead a major UK lender – to share her reflections in conversation with our own CEO, Ann Francke, and CMI Women Chair, Heather Melville, on career development as a woman, and what still needs to happen to achieve gender balance at all levels.
She is also joined by co-founder of IMAGINE and former Unilever CEO, Paul Polman, who, as a long-standing advocate for gender-balanced business, brings a wealth of insights and experience in leveraging the full range of talent available, to maximise performance.
