What is Lifetime Achievement Award?

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises the outstanding management and leadership of an individual throughout their career and is awarded only when a truly worthy candidate is identified. The Award is therefore given to an individual who's contribution has made an outstanding impact on Management and Leadership.

The Lifetime Achievement Award entrants are nominated by the Chartered Management Institute's Board of Companions, and represents the ultimate award for Managers and Leaders.

Anne Richards DBE joined Fidelity International as CEO in December 2018 and was appointed a Director of FIL Limited in September 2019.

She has worked in the asset management industry since 1992, collecting three decades of experience as an analyst, portfolio manager and Chief Investment Office. She is a strong proponent of sustainable investing.

Her career path spans many blue-chip global names in the financial sector, including Alliance Capital, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, Aberdeen Asset Management and M&G Investments. She is a Chartered Engineer and began her career as a research fellow at CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research in Switzerland. She is a former chair of the UK Financial Conduct Authority’s Practitioner Panel and was appointed chair of TheCityUK in June 2022.

She was appointed a Dame Commander (DBE) in June 2021 for services to Financial Services, Women, Education and Science.

The CMI Board feel that Dame Anne’s outstanding track record over many years in engineering and financial services, addressing inequality and championing diversity in the workplace, combined with her services to the voluntary sector make her a truly worthy winner of this award.

Lifetime Achievement Award Winner 2022

Sir Trevor Phillips is a writer and television producer. He is the co-founder of the data analytics consultancy Webber Phillips, and Chairman of Green Park Interim and Executive Search. He is a Times columnist, shortlisted for Comment Writer of the Year in 2020.

He is the Chairman of the global freedom of expression campaign charity Index on Censorship; a Senior Fellow at the Policy Exchange think tank; and a Vice-President of the Royal Television Society.

Trevor is a non-executive director of the AIM-listed behavioural science consultancy Mind Gym; he was the President of the John Lewis Partnership Council until 2018, and founding chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission.

Lifetime Achievement Award Winner 2021

Pinky is an internationally acclaimed champion for women. She is the force behind the Women of the Future Programme, a portfolio of global events, projects and networks that support women, celebrate their talent and success and, in so, helping to burst open the female leadership pipeline.

Over the last 25 years, Pinky has moved the dial on gender equality and has also progressed on the Diversity & Inclusion agenda. She has focused on leadership in top firms in the UK with the inaugural, 50 Leading Lights List, changing the conversation on leadership and highlighting the value of kindness in business. Pinky has won several awards for her work and was listed as one of the 100 most powerful women in the UK.

Lifetime Achievement Award Winner 2020

Sherry Coutu is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor who serves on the boards of companies, charities, and universities. She chairs or has chaired Founders4Schools, Workfinder, Raspberry Pi (Trading), Digital Boost and the Scaleup Institute. She also serves as a non-executive Director of Pearson plc, London Stock Exchange plc, DCMS and as Trustee of Raspberry Pi Foundation and sits on advisory boards of The National Gallery and The Royal Society.

With more than 60 angel investments, three IPO's, and numerous JV's and acquisitions behind her, Sherry has extensive experience in early and mid-stage companies having held senior positions in product management, research, finance, and operations.

Philanthropically, she supports Founders4Schools, The Prince's Trust and the Crick Institute.

Sherry has an MBA from Harvard, an MSc (with distinction) from the London School of Economics, and a BA (Hons with distinction) from the University of British Columbia, Canada.

She has been awarded honourary PHD's from The University of Bristol, Manchester University and the Open University for her work in Education and the Economy.

She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to entrepreneurship in the New Year's Honours List 2013.
